Something That Doesn’t Happen

MB

Black is white night

and Manu’s rugby shorts

firebrand from the Far North

patriarch for the future.

Religious till midday

family Sunday dinner

mutton, beef and roast veggies in hot tubs

to horizon distant

but late at night, Sabbath dark

personal, delicious sins.

And then there was Manu

naked save for smile

and black shorts

Manu…

chopping wood

sweat in rivers

naked chest

who has eldest son, Adam

at the window

eyes transfixed.

To be naked

was the most cardinal of sensuous sins

until Manu arrived from wildest tips

of north of Far North

Manu…

there was Manu…

seen by all

and he knew

he should not…

Senior couple

wealth, wall-to-wall

dollars in diamonds

but Adam and Eve

had always changed in the bathroom

never in 30 years see each other naked

produced six kids.

But magnificent muscular male Manu

base element of mankind

has Adam’s gaze transfixed

through the window.

Saturday Music by Reade Robbins

MB

Beat out your purpose with a drum

beat out your anger with a drum

and maybe just maybe nobody will get hurt

not even your silent self…

When Saturday morning sun

shone over the village

how thrilling and exciting to escape

world wars three, four and five at home

and ride your bike slowly

around the village

to watch other men

and learn how

to be a man.
